Sketch cards are not new - various sets have included hand drawn cards by various artists for at least a decade, if not longer.  In the last few years, however, they have very much come to the fore, and some collectors now express disappointment if a set does not feature sketch cards (in the same way they once complained if there were no autograph or costume cards!)
I don't have an extensive collection - most of the cards on these pages were either lucky pack pulls, presents from friends or eBay bargains.  That said, I am interested in sketches that appeal to my particular taste, and I am fussy!  You will see a lot of sketches of Irina Spalko, the character played by Cate Blanchett in "Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skulls" - there is no particular reason for this; I managed to get a nicely priced Kate RED Bradley sketch of the character on eBay and, shortly afterwards, found another sketch of the same character by Grant Gould for a similarly low price at a show, so I picked that up too and in pretty short order also bought a Jessica Hickman of the same character - one thing led to another and now I have a bit of a Spalko collection building up - which you will find together at the Spalko Gallery!
I have also started to build a collection of sketches based on characters from the BBC TV series "Doctor Who" - one or two sketches were given to me as Christmas/Secret Santa gifts, and I have commissioned others (mainly based on the Eleventh Doctor, played by Matt Smith, and Amy Pond, played by Karen Gillan) - there are enough of these now to justify their own gallery, which you can find here!

(A quick plug - as well as maintaining this website I produce a regular podcast about non-sport trading cards entitled "UK CardCast" - the reason I mention it here is that several episodes concentrate on the world of sketch artists and their contributions to the trading card community!)
