Stage Six: Boston & New England

In March 2000 I popped over to Boston for the Benson Mailing List New England Gathering
Whilst there, I took advantage of the area and took the following pictures (stretched over two pages)
(If YOU are planning a trip to Boston, may I recommend the Mini Rough Guide to Boston?  See the bottom of this page for details!)

The Frog Pond Skating rink, Boston Common / The Founders Memorial, Boston Common

The famous "Purple Glass", caused by sunlight on 'defective' glass.

Well, you didn't expect me to go all the way to Boston and NOT visit Cheers!  It's actually the Bull and Finch pub, it faces Boston Common and, inside, is NOTHING like the TV series (which was filmed in Hollywood); it does serve some reasonably priced food and drinks, however, and I can recommend the "Snugglah" (Hot Chocolate and Pepermint Schnapps)

The Old Granary Burial Ground, inside is Paul Revere, Samuel Adams and other notables of Bostonian (and American) history.  The picture on the right is of Paul Revere's gravestone.

Top: Trinity Church, with the John Hancock building to the right.  Bottom: New Old South Church

Boston Public Library

View of Boston from the John Hancock building / Yours Truly at the John Hancock building.

The Mini Rough Guide to Boston is a most useful guide to the city, with some excellent recommendations on accomodation, cafe's, bars and restaurants and, of course, the top tourist sights.
Order it from by selecting the book picture above!
